Programme Overview

The Department of Health Information Management provides comprehensive training in health information management, electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical coding, data analysis, privacy and security regulations, and healthcare technology applications.

Programme Objectives

The objective of the programme is to produce a cadre of manpower that will among others perform the following functions:

Organize and manage health information services in the health care delivery system.
Formulate, collate analyse, present and interpret health statistical data.
Plan and manage a surveillance system for specified conditions.
Plan and manage the monitoring and evaluation (M and E) unit.
Participate in the conduct of research in the healthcare system.
Apply computer systems to health care information.
Advise on confidentiality, release of information from and preservation of records.

Entry Requirements

5 credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics and any other subject at not more than two sittings.
