Programme Overview

The Community Health Department trains mid-level health personnel to enhance the health and well-being of the entire community. Students in this department receive both theoretical training and supervised experience in community-based and clinical settings. This comprehensive approach prepares them to play a vital role in delivering basic health services and promoting healthy living practices within communities.

The Community Health Department offers two programmes:

1.  Certificate in Community Health (JCHEW) which runs for 2 years (4 semesters).

2.  National Diploma in Community Health (CHEW) which runs for 3 years (6 semesters).

Entry Requirements

For National Diploma in Community Health (CHEW): 5  credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics and any other subject at not more than two sittings or JCHEW certificate with the requisite O'level Result.

For Certificate in Community Health (JCHEW): 3  credit passes inin English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and passes in Chemistry, and Physics; in WASSCE, SSCE, or NECO at not more than two sittings
